Recently, Kia Motors America (KMA) announced that the 2018 Sorento had been awarded a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The rating was given to models built after May 2017 that are equipped with newly-acceptable-rated headlights.

The 2018 Sorento, which is manufactured at the Kia plant in West Point, GA, offers the refined utility and advanced technology that today's customers want, with available advanced driver assistance systems such as Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning and Advanced Smart Cruise Control enhancing owners' sense of safety.

In order to earn a Top Safety Pick Plus rating, vehicles must be rated "good" in the five IIHS crashworthiness tests -- small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints -- and receive an "advanced" or "superior' rating for front crash prevention as well as an "acceptable:" or "good" rating in the headlight testing.
