Are You Prepared to Change a Flat Tire?

Flat tires can happen at any time, and it is important to be prepared and know how to handle it. Before one happens, it's a good idea to practice using the tools and changing a tire at home. This will help keep you calm and confident when a flat happens on the road.

Begin by getting your vehicle off of the road to a safe spot and setting the parking brake. Put wheel blocks behind the tires on the side that doesn't have a flat. Loosen the lugs, then jack up the flat tire. Remove the lugs, wheel and tire. Put the new tire on, put the lugs in place and tighten them.
